We live in an increasingly scientific and technological age where children need to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes to prepare them for life in the 21^st century. 

At Aston on Trent Primary School, we aim to develop curiosity, enjoyment, respect for the environment and a growing understanding of science knowledge, through an approach whereby pupils ask questions and investigate the world in which they live. 

We aim to stimulate and excite pupils’ curiosity about phenomena and events in the world around them. Aston on Trent Primary School promotes a practical, hands-on approach to learning, where links with the real world are made evident. Working scientifically is an essential component of our science curriculum, where skills of enquiry are developed through regular research, observations, investigations and field trips. 

Furthermore, learning in science is made fun and relevant, with hands-on activities and investigations, theme days, links with outdoor learning and Forest Schools, STEM weeks and strong links with local industries such as Severn Trent, Rolls Royce and Toyota to engage our pupils and build their cultural capital.
