Aston on Trent's School Council
“I have learned you are never too small to make a difference”- Greta Thunberg
Pupil voice and pupil leadership is highly regarded within our school and one of the ways pupils can express their ideas and thoughts is via the School Council. Aston on Trent’s school council is an ideal opportunity for pupils to get more involved in the way the school is run. We respect and value the thoughts and opinions of the children and believe that the school council benefits the whole school community as it provides opportunities for pupils to communicate their feelings and influence decisions that are made within our school.
School council aims:
To empower children to have a voice.
To improve the school according to the children’s points of view.
To meet regularly to discuss their views and be heard.
To prepare children to play an active role as citizens in the wider community abiding by and exercising the British Values.
To develop good relationships and respect the differences between people.
To make sure our school is a happy and safe place for all of our children.
To make sure children have a place to voice concerns, opinions and thoughts.
To ensure suggestions are listened to and acted upon when appropriate and possible.
Elections
At the start of the school year, we held an election where potential candidates delivered a campaign speech and their peers had the opportunity to vote for their class representatives.
