  Ashley Hayward has been on the Governing body for 12 years and is the current Chair.  He has three children, all of whom have attended Aston school after moving to the village in 2000. He strongly believes that school should be a place where each child can achieve their potential in a safe and happy environment.

  Chris Jones was elected as a Parent Governor in July 2014 , and is Vice Chairman of the Governing Body and Chair of the Resources Committee. Chris has 1 son in the school and is keen to further promote the school within the local community. He has spent the last 20 years leading teams of Area Managers and advising small businesses in the Leisure Industry.

  Vicky Topps was elected as a parent governor in May 2017 and currently has two children at the school with another one to come in 2020. She has lived in Aston since 2003 and  recently volunteered on the Preschool Committee to assist with the running of the charity and applying for grants for funding for new equipment. Vicky is keen to put this learning into practice for the school and use her financial experience from working at KPMG and more latterly HMRC on the governing body and resources committee to help support and challenge so that we can work on continuous improvement.

  Haydn Wheeler was originally co-opted as a representative of the parish council and remains chairman of the parish council.  He worked in primary education for 38 years, including 7 years as headteacher at Aston primary school (1984-91). Following retirement from full-time work in 2008 he was employed part-time to work with and advise headteachers in Derbyshire schools.  Haydn is honoured and privileged to be back at the school as a governor, supporting the headteacher.

      Clare Coles was elected as a governor in May 2016 when her eldest child was in Reception.  Clare is a practising barrister and the focus of her work is the welfare of children.  She uses her experience to both support and challenge the school.  Clare believes that school should be a positive experience for all and she is keen to make a significant and constructive contribution to that experience.
